December 2010 in Review

Due to holiday break/flu bout, only worked 10 days in December, however much was accomplished!

Meetings
1. Met with Conant, Western Sales Manager, The Book House, Inc.
2. Participated in and contributed to four committee meetings.
3. Presented items at librarian business meeting.

Webinars
1. Attended webinar: User Experience Design for Web Services, presented by San José Public Library Digital Futures Manager Sarah Houghton-Jan.
2. Attended webinar: New ProQuest Administrator Module with CCL Administrators.
3. Disseminated information re: these webinars to full-time librarians via e-mail and routing of documents.

Archives
1. Made minor changes to archives scrapbook blog and archives Web site.
2. Participated in e-mail discussions re: archives (with Boll, Brown, Ishibashi, and Braden).

Acquisitions Department
1. Coordinated meetings with Thomson-West, Lexis-Nexis, Okamura, Dayton, and Paralegal Studies Dean Hovey to discuss cutting legal resource expenses.
2. Compiled October pricing/stats info for databases and disseminated this info to full-time librarians via e-mail.
3. Selected and deselected McNaughton titles.
4. Coordinated with database vendors to procure pricing estimates and free trials.
5. Added a title from among donations in my collection development area.

Instruction
1. Created new version of the “How to Evaluate Web Resources” tri-fold, then submitted to the full-time librarians for editing.
2. Taught a total of 22 classes in the fall semester.

Reference and Student Assistance
1. Assisted students with research queries at both reference desks.
2. Interacted with students at podium.

Projects
1. Corresponded with Konica-Minolta vendor via e-mail re: library copy needs.

Other Campus Activities
1. Enjoyed both the campus and library holiday parties.
2. Completed and submitted travel expense report.
